In 1965, Gilligan's Island episode #21. "Big Man on Little Stick". Handsome surfer Duke Williams rides a giant tsunami to the island. At first, the castaways are excited as Duke thinks he will turn around and surf back to Hawaii (and send help). However, after seeing Mary Ann and Ginger, he decides he may want to stay for a while. The castaways must come up with a plan to make him want to leave for Hawaii.
In 1967, Gilligan's Island episode #90. "Splashdown". guests: Chick Hern (radio announcer) George Neise (NASA official) Scott Graham (Astronaut Tobias) Jim Spencer (Astronaut Ryan). The Professor determines that a manned space craft will pass over the island, and attempts to fashion a telegraph machine. When that fails, the Castaways try to spell out SOS using burning logs as a rescue signal, but Gilligan catches fire and runs into the logs, causing them to spell out SOL, the name of one of the astronauts! Blooper watch: as Gilligan is lighting the logs, you can see his pants smoking before he backs up into the flaming logs!
In 1970, in a Brady Bunch episode called "The Hero", Peter gets a swelled head when he saves a girl's life; the Bradys are surprised when Peter comes home with torn clothes and explains that he rescued a girl from an accident. They find that easier to accept than his attitude when his friends make a fuss over the incident.
In 1971, it's not a test but it's not a real emergency either, as the National Emergency Warning Center in Colorado accidentally orders radio and TV stations across the nation to go off the air. Many stations heed the alert, which is not lifted for over a half hour. (Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.)
In 1981, on "Fridays" on ABC, Andy Kaufman ruins every sketch in this live broadcast of the ABC's answer to "SNL." Toward show's end, Andy gets in a scuffle with cast members as the horrified audience looks on.

The annual event, scheduled each year on Shrove Tuesday, pits the women of Liberal against the women of Olney, Bucks, England. Wearing dresses and aprons, their heads covered in scarfs, the women run a 415-yard, "S" shaped course. Each woman also carries a pancake in a skillet and must toss the pancake three times. The fastest pancake carrier ran the race in 58.5 seconds in 1975. This record was set by Liberal's Sheila Turner. Pass the syrup, please!
