In 1910, Thomas Crapper, often described as the prime developer of the flush toilet mechanism as it's known today, died in England.

In 1926, John Logie Baird of Scotland demonstrated the first television set, the iconoscope, a mechanical scanning system.
In 1961, "You're In The Picture", TV Game Show, aired with host Jackie Gleason on CBS spending the whole half hour apologizing for the now-cancelled show from the previous week. Gleason will use this time period for the next two months to conduct one-on-one interviews with celebrity friends.

In 1976, "Laverne & Shirley," a spin-off of ABC megahit "Happy Days", makes it debut with Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as the Lucy and Ethel of their generation. Michael McKean, David L. Lander, Eddie Mekka and Phil Foster also star. It was a runaway hit. Cindy Williams co-starred with Ron Howard in the movie "American Graffiti" in 1973, and she was the third star from that movie to get a TV series. In response to the show's venomous critics, ABC's programming chief compares L & S to the satirical classics of MoliŠre.
In 1986, Sam Kinison makes his second appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman." May the lord have mercy on us all.
